Living in a van doesn’t mean your hair has to look like it. Here is a list of all the hair products I have while living on the road full time.

1. Shampoo & Conditioner

It’s imperative to use all natural, biodegradable shampoo and conditioner while living on the road. We buy big bottles of this and put it in our soap dispenser in our shower.

2. Wet Brush

This brush works miracles. No matter how ratty my hair gets, this brush is sure to always smooth it out without any pain. I highly recommend the Wet Brush! They also have a mini version if you’d like a more compact brush.

3. Leave-in Conditioner

Leave in conditioner is a must for me while living on the road simply because I don’t go to hair salons often. In order to keep my hair from splitting I rub a little bit of this into the ends and let my hair air dry. It’s the best form of hair management while being a full time nomad.

4. Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo and baby wipes are your best friend when living on the road. Since I wash my hair once a week I use dry shampoo mid week to keep my hair from getting greasy. I then can take body showers that don’t require as much water while keeping my hair dry. I prefer the power types as I feel they last longer than aerosol.

5. Hair Ties/Head Bands

You won’t find me dead without a hair tie on my wrist. Since living van life, having a hair tie at all times is crucial to everyday life and I love these types of elastics that are comfortable enough to sleep in.

I also keep a few of these headbands on hand. For those days I don’t feel likes styling my hair (which is almost everyday), I simply wear one of these headbands and love the way it looks. Also hats are a great accessory for outdoor/van living.

6. Curling/Crimp Iron

I actually don’t keep a blow dryer with me while living on the road. Our electrical system would be able to handle one however I don’t have a need for one as most of my time is spent hiking in nature. So I let my hair air-dry. That being said, once my hair is dry and if I have a special occasion to dress up for (like date night with Sunny) I will bust out one of these hair tools to style my hair.

7. Mini Hair Spray

Once my hair is done being styled I top it off with a little bit of hair spray to hold the curl and it tends to hold throughout the rest of the week. I like having a mini one to save storage room and don’t need to use it often so it lasts a while.
