Immune Boosting Vitamins For Optimal Health

13-essential-vitamins-your-body-needs.jpg

We all know that now is more important than ever to keep your health at optimal levels. In the days of COVID-19, your natural immune system is the most powerful way to fight infection as well as keep you from getting sick. This is the exact list of vitamins I take daily. With this vitamin list in congruence with tons of sunlight exposure and healthy eating, you are bound to live long and stay well.

Feel free to buy your vitamins from any brand of your choosing!

Vitamin: D, Zinc & Magnesium

Vitamin D:

Helps to protect cells. It keeps your skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage healthy. Of course there are plenty of natural ways to get vitamin D into the body such as this food list:

Foods that have Vitamin D:

  • salmon

  • sardines

  • egg yolk

  • shrimp

  • milk (fortified)

  • cereal (fortified)

  • yogurt (fortified)

  • orange juice (fortified)

Zinc:

Anytime I’m feeling a little bit sick I immediately take Zinc. Zinc is essential for cell growth and division, immune function, enzyme reactions, DNA synthesis and protein production. What’s more, zinc supplements significantly reduce the risk of infections and promote immune response in older adults. Every time I load up on zinc when I’m feeling sick, I always wake up less sick from the night before.

Magnesium:

Magnesium has been shown to help fight inflammation and inflammation is what causes chronic illness. It also helps regulate mood and fights against depression! It also can help with migraines, lowers blood pressure and reduces insulin resistance. It’s basically the ‘feel good’ vitamin and I love how it makes me feel balanced.

Turmeric & Curcumin

Turmeric:

This is an ancient vitamin that you can get in spice form to put on your food if you prefer to not take a vitamin! Turmeric, especially its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis. Any antioxidant will be wildly beneficial to your long term health.

D3 + K2

D3 + K2:

It’s important that if you take vitamin D that you are also taking vitamin K2 as this vitamin is what will allow your body to process vitamin D and aids calcium to absorption into the blood and has been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer and keeps your bones strong. I only recently learned about the importance of vitamin K2 and am so happy that I did so that I get the most out of my vitamin D intake.

Probiotics

Probiotics:

Last but certainly not least is taking a probiotic. There are different kinds of probiotics for men and women. Probiotics replenish the good bacteria in your gut so that they can continue to help your body function at its highest level. Maintaining a healthy gut is key to preventing sickness.

In conclusion:

Of course there are so many additional vitamins out there and everyones’ bodies are different and should be treated individually. I just wanted to highlight the immune boosting vitamins that I have been taking for the last 6 months and let me tell you, I feel amazing!
